Description
Information evening on guiding visually impaired people in running, walking and other sports. In cooperation with the Finnish Association of the Visually Impaired we organise an info‑evening aimed at inspiring and teaching sighted athletes to act as guides for visually impaired participants. The idea originated among runners – guide‑runner pairs are common at running events. The same principles apply to all physical activity; walking and running are closely related, cross‑country skiing requires a slightly different approach, and cycling its own. The programme includes, among other things, "theory" of guiding principles, practical exercises in a safe indoor environment, and a discussion "Would you join the guide bank?" (mainly a conversation about how such a system could be organised). More information: https://lcstamina.lions.fi/tapahtumat/opasjuoksu/
