Dora Pejačević: Prelude
Max Bruch: Scottish Fantasy for violin and orchestra op. 46
Zoltán Kodály: Háry János
Richard Strauss: Till Eulenspiegel
When the oldest orchestra in Finland arrives in the capital, it is time for celebration. Thus Kevin John Edusei conducts three works that sparkle with musical storytelling at its best – both whimsical, cheerful and wonderfully lyrical. Expect Strauss’s musical jokes, legends from Hungary and the luxurious prelude by Dora Pejačević, a contemporary of Mahler. The concert’s highlight features Sibelius Violin Competition finalist Minami Yoshida shining in Bruch’s Scottish landscapes.
