Cinderella, the fairy‑tale of fairy tales, is presented by the Sibelius Academy Opera to illuminate the dim November in the Music House's Sonore Hall. Jules Massenet’s music carries us into a magical fairy‑tale world suitable for both children and adults. Lucette is a Cinderella who retreats into her world of dreams, destined to stay home alone even when the King himself throws a party. However, a fairy godmother enters the scene and encourages Cinderella to follow her own will. Massenet’s opera is based on Charles Perrault’s classic Cinderella story. Cinderella is a story of acceptance, otherness and the courage to be oneself. The performance offers a charming and beautiful opera experience seasoned with humor. The work is sung in French, but a Finnish narrator and subtitles help younger audiences follow the story. The performance is suitable for all ages from 10 upwards.
