Description
EXPEDITIONEN – a love story. In 1897, three men set off to conquer the North Pole. By hot air balloon. That is not a good idea. Over thirty years later, their remains are found on the inaccessible White Island. How did they die? What did they die of? What really happened? Over a hundred years after engineer Andrée and his expedition members left, these questions still elude physician and author Bea Uusma. She must get an answer. She follows in their footsteps. Expeditionen – a love story is Paul Olin's dramatization, direction, and visualization of Bea Uusma's book, which won the August Prize in 2014. The performance was originally staged in 2023 and became Sirius Teatern's greatest success ever, both artistically and in terms of audience. Not everyone who wanted to see it could fit in. Now, at the audience's request, the performance will be shown four more times in the large theatre hall of Scen Konepaja in January 2027. On stage are Cecilia Paul, Wilhelm Grotenfelt, Paul Holländer, and Paul Olin. Co-direction and physical staging by Antti Silvennoinen. Lights and projections by Aleksi Karjalainen. Piano music and sound world by Benjamin Rosenlund and Sidner Olin. Photography, Tani Simberg. Graphic design, Johan Isaksson. // In 1897, three men set off to conquer the North Pole.
