Engineering Student Singing Night at Smökki

The engineering student singing tradition comes alive at Smökki! If you have ever been a teekkari, this is the activity for you to pass the old singing heritage to today’s youth 👍🫶🥳🦁. The Otaniemi engineering students’ choir committee invites past and present teekkari members to a joint singing evening at Smökki, led by singer‑pianist Sami Kangasharju. Lions Club Tapiola has supported the event by providing a piano for Smökki and helping with promotion. The goal is to transfer the old teekkari song culture to current students, meet old acquaintances, and revive the pre‑COVID oral tradition. The format follows the classic style from the last century: Sami at the piano with singers around it, plus a glimpse of today’s teekkari song culture in Otaniemi. Expect familiar songs and encounters between different teekkari generations. Bring your old teekkari songbook! Participation instructions: 1. The singing night is free for all participants. 2. Invite all your singing friends to this event. 3. Register so the choir can reserve enough singing resources: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/BjYdR4p3a8 4. Bring cash to the event. 5. Arrive as you would for a traditional teekkari singing night – now you can even get there by metro. Based on registrations we will reserve enough space and singing resources. Will you join? Invite your old teekkari friends to sing and keep the tradition alive! Join the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1090562887012287/ – spread the word by inviting teekkari friends. Let’s keep the teekkari singing tradition alive – together!
